The Answers:
What type of scooter do I need?
That depends on what type of riding you plan on doing. If you
are just going to scoot around close to home then a 50cc will
be okay, but if you plan to scoot all over town we recommend
at least a 125cc. 50cc scooters will go a maximum of 40-50 mph,
depending on the model; 125 cc–150cc scooters maximum of 60-65
mph; and 250cc scooters will max out at about 80-85 mph.

What is the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke?
A two-stroke engine generates a combustion-powered piston stroke
with every revolution of the crankshaft. A four-stroke engine
generates a combustion-powered piston stroke every second revolution
of the crankshaft. In terms of reliability, horsepower and
ease of operation, the engine types vary in only a few noticeable
areas.
A two-stroke engine typically develops excellent horsepower
for a given engine size. The two strokes require the operator
to add two-stroke specific oil to a separate holding tank (usually
every second or third time the fuel tank is filled). On most
modern scooters, the oil is automatically mixed with the gasoline
inside the carburetor.
A four stroke engine typically returns greater fuel mileage,
exceptionally low emissions, and require no addition of oil
to mix with the fuel (although, crankcase oil level must
be maintained to the appropriate level, and refreshed at
the manufacturer’s
recommended interval – just like your car).
Two stroke or four stroke engines each deliver excellent fuel
economy, reliability and performance, especially when packaged
within a high-quality scooter from a reputable manufacturer,
like all the scooters sold at Atomic Brown Scooter Shop.
